Some hotels fade from memory the moment you leave.
Others return to you—unexpectedly—on an ordinary, weary day.
Not because it was extravagant, but because you remember a moment when you felt completely at ease.
For me, The West Hollywood EDITION is the latter.
About EDITION: Redefining Modern Luxury
Before diving into this stay, it’s worth understanding the philosophy behind the EDITION brand—because it explains why the experience feels so distinct.
EDITION is the collaboration between Ian Schrager and Marriott International. Schrager, widely credited as the pioneer of the “boutique hotel” concept and co-founder of Studio 54, reimagined what a hotel could be.
His philosophy is simple yet profound:
a hotel should not merely be a place to sleep—it should evoke emotion.
Each EDITION property is unique, yet they all share a common ethos. Rather than relying on traditional opulence, they cultivate a sense of understated luxury—refined, intimate, and deeply considered.
As Schrager puts it, it’s not about how a hotel looks, but how it makes you feel.
That, precisely, is why I’ve always been drawn to EDITION.

Location: The Heart of West Hollywood
The hotel sits along Sunset Boulevard, at the intersection of West Hollywood and Beverly Hills.
From Los Angeles International Airport, the journey takes around 30–40 minutes by Uber. Do note that you’ll first need to take a shuttle to the LAX-it pickup area before requesting a ride, which adds approximately 15–20 minutes.
The location is both convenient and comfortable. Beverly Hills is about a 10-minute drive away, while The Grove and The Original Farmers Market are roughly 10–15 minutes by car. The neighborhood feels safe and easy to navigate.
Arrival: An Unexpected Welcome
My flight arrived in Los Angeles early in the morning. After immigration, luggage claim, and the airport transfer process, I reached the hotel at around 9 a.m.
Fully expecting to leave my luggage and explore the neighborhood until check-in, I was instead told:
“Your room is ready.”
After a long-haul flight, there are few words more welcome.
The Room: Where Fatigue Dissolves
The moment I opened the door, the weight of travel seemed to fall away.
I stayed in a Premier Suite, featuring a separate living room and bedroom. The palette was composed of warm neutrals and natural wood tones—minimal, elegant, and perfectly balanced.
What stayed with me most was the California sunlight pouring through the floor-to-ceiling windows. It washed over the wooden floors and soft furnishings, creating a sense of calm that felt almost tangible.

This is where EDITION excels.
It doesn’t tell you luxury—it lets you feel it.
The bathroom was equally considered, with both a walk-in shower and a deep soaking tub—one that would later become the setting for the most restorative moment of my stay.
The amenities were custom-made by Le Labo for EDITION, featuring notes of black tea and bergamot. The scent is exclusive to the brand and reminiscent of Thé Noir 29. Even now, it brings me back to those quiet hours in the room.

Above the City: The Roof
At the rooftop, The Roof, you’ll find a restaurant and bar overlooking the Los Angeles skyline. Whether you’re enjoying breakfast or a sunset cocktail, the horizon feels endless, and the city below seems to slow down.
There is nothing you need to do.
Simply being there is enough.

Fitness Center: A Routine Without Compromise
For those who prefer to maintain a sense of rhythm while traveling, the fitness center at The West Hollywood EDITION offers a reassuring presence.
The cardio area is equipped with multiple ellipticals and treadmills, while the strength training area features a full range of machines and free weights. The space reflects the hotel’s design language—clean, spacious, and thoughtfully maintained.
Here, there is no need to compromise.
Your routine remains your own.

Lobby Bar: The Art of Social Space
The lobby bar is a hallmark of the EDITION brand.
Schrager pioneered the concept of “lobby socializing”—transforming hotel lobbies into spaces where people linger, connect, and unwind.
At The West Hollywood EDITION, the atmosphere strikes a delicate balance: refined yet relaxed. At any hour, you’ll find guests quietly enjoying a drink, the space filled with a subtle, unspoken energy.

A Delightful Surprise: LACMA Tickets
During my stay, the hotel offered a thoughtful perk: two complimentary tickets to Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA). By reserving through the concierge, I received a digital ticket with a QR code via email.
Beyond the museum itself, the iconic Urban Light installation—202 vintage street lamps arranged in symmetry—was a highlight right outside the museum.
For someone who appreciates art, this small gesture added a perfect afternoon to my journey.

The Most Restorative Moment
After a full day exploring the city, I returned to the room for what became the most treasured moment of the stay.
Soft lighting.
A bath filled with warm water.
Jazz playing quietly in the background.
The subtle scent of black tea and bergamot rising with the steam.
In that moment, everything else disappeared.
No notifications.
No obligations.
Nothing to worry about.
Just warmth, scent, sound, and stillness.
Travel, at its best, offers a pause.
And a truly great hotel creates space for that pause to exist.

Final Thoughts
The West Hollywood EDITION does not rely on grandeur to impress.
Instead, it reveals itself through details—through light, texture, and atmosphere.
If you are visiting Los Angeles and looking for a place that balances design, comfort, and genuine calm, this is a stay worth considering.
